Ohtani was scratched from Friday's start for the Los Angeles Dodgers with left knee irritation and will skip the All-Star Game for treatment.

Unfortunately, the Los Angeles Dodgers pulled the plug on pitcher Shohei Ohtani’s start six hours before the first pitch, citing lingering left knee irritation.

As a result, he will not travel with the team for the All-Star Game in Philadelphia as he has some “interventions” done to rehab his knee ahead of the second half of the season.

Ohtani will still be available for the Dodgers as their designated hitter for the weekend series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Ohtani began having issues with his left knees back at the beginning of June following a June 10 start against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

It is the same knee that he had surgery on back in 2019 for a congenital bipartite patella issue.

However, there isn’t thoughts of a shutdown, more so a plan to buy time.

To read more about the latest update and whether there’s cause for concern, here is the full story from Dodgers Roundtable writer Adrian Medina.

Ohtani has also been dealing with some blisters in his pitching hand and right bicep tightness.

Despite being banged up, Ohtani’s two-way season is pretty historic as he’s enjoyed a stellar campaign.

Ohtani is slashing .290/.405/.534 with 20 homers and six steals. He is 8-2 in 14 starts while carrying a 1.79 ERA.

As the Dodgers lead the National League West and look to make a deep playoff run as the defending World Series champs, they’re prioritizing Ohtani’s long term health for a postseason push.
