The Baltimore Orioles have produced some of baseball's highest-ranked prospects this decade, but shortstop Gunnar Henderson is the only one who's turned into a superstar. The jury is still out on several of their young pieces, but outfielder Enrique Bradfield Jr. got demoted from No. 3 to No. 10 on the Orioles' new prospect ranking, per MLB.com. He was No. 3 in 2025.
Baltimore drafted Bradfield No. 17 overall in 2023, and he rose from Rookie League to High-A that year before getting to Double-A in 2024 and Triple-A in 2025. The 24-year-old has a career slash line of .264/.369/.359 with 135 stolen bases over 209 minor-league games, but has just seven homers and 60 RBIs. He's had similar struggles with slugging in spring training, as he's had just one extra-base hit in 17 career contests as a non-roster invitee since 2023. This year, he's 1-for-9 with two walks and two runs scored, and his only hit was a bunt single.
Bradfield has been surpassed on the prospect ranking by outfielder Dylan Beavers, who went from No. 6 last year to No. 2 this year. The 24-year-old has displayed more power so far, as he's slashed .278/.383/.459 with 44 homers, 180 RBIs, and 87 stolen bases over 361 minor-league games. He also logged a .775 OPS with four homers over 35 big-league games last season.
The Orioles selected Beavers No. 33 overall in the Competitive Balance Round A of the 2022 MLB Draft. The California native has had one more year to develop professionally than Bradfield, but he's clearly more MLB-ready.

Either way, Baltimore has plenty of other players who could develop into long-term pieces. For example, catcher Samuel Basallo (No. 8), Beavers (No. 69), and outfielder Nate George (No. 93) are all on MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects list, and young big-leaguers like Jackson Holliday and Colton Cowser are not close to their primes yet.
Meanwhile, veterans like Henderson, Pete Alonso, and Taylor Ward will help the Orioles contend while the young pieces develop, so they have a promising outlook both now and in the future.
Up next for Baltimore is a spring training matchup with the Houston Astros on Tuesday.
