The Orioles have a relief pitcher on a special hot streak.
The Baltimore Orioles lost 4-3 to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, but not because of right-handed relief pitcher Rico Garcia. The 32-year-old threw 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts, and he continued his season-long no-hitter.
Garcia has thrown nine no-hit innings to start the campaign, along with 10 strikeouts against three walks. The 5-foot-9, 215-pounder also has four holds and one save.
Ace pitcher Trevor Rogers recognized Garcia's effectiveness after Tuesday's game, via The Baltimore Sun's Jacob Calvin Meyer.
“You wanna talk about a guy that’s not human, it’s that guy right there," the 28-year-old said.
Rogers had a rare off night on Tuesday, as he allowed four runs on nine hits over 4.2 innings. The southpaw left the game after the Diamondbacks went on a four-run rally in the fifth before Garcia came in and struck out Nolan Arenado to end the frame.
Rico Garcia Builds On Strong 2025 Campaign

The Hawaii native never had more than 12 big-league outings in a season until 2025, when he had 29 combined outings for the New York Mets, New York Yankees, and the Orioles.
Garcia made two appearances for the Mets before getting designated for assignment in July. He then made just one appearance for the Yankees before pitching six more games for the Mets.
The latter club then designated Garcia for assignment again, and he got picked up by Baltimore in August. He then pitched 20 games for the team, logging a 2.84 ERA and 1.42 WHIP.
Garcia is now back with the Orioles again, and his 2026 campaign couldn't have gotten off to a better start. His hot start is especially clutch for them, as fellow relievers Andrew Kittredge (shoulder) and Keegan Akin (groin) are out.
Baltimore is now 9-8 after Tuesday's loss. The bullpen pitched a shutout over the final 4.1 frames, but the offense couldn't muster a comeback.
Samuel Basallo kicked off the scoring with a solo homer in the second for the Orioles before Leody Taveras walked in a run in the third. Ildemaro Vargas then hit a three-run homer in the fifth for the Diamondbacks before Jose Fernandez hit an RBI double in the same frame. Taveras then hit an RBI single in the eighth inning to end the scoring.
Up next for Baltimore is a rematch against Arizona on Wednesday at 12:35 p.m. ET.
