Baltimore Orioles left-hander Trevor Rogers had an update on his condition.

The Baltimore Orioles rotation has once again been a major problem this season. The group has dealt with its share of injuries and underperformance, and Trevor Rogers has been part of both issues in his third year with the club. Rogers posted a 4.75 ERA through his first six starts, collecting 27 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings of work.

To make matters worse, he is currently unavailable after being placed on the 15-day injured list in late April due to illness. While it was fortunate that the setback was not related to his left arm, it was still a tough blow for a rotation already dealing with the loss of Zach Eflin for the year and Dean Kremer also going down with a quad injury. Rogers became the third regular starter to hit the IL, less than two months into the regular season

Fortunately for Baltimore, his absence appears to be nearing an end. Speaking with reporters on Sunday before the series finale against the Athletics, Rogers shared an update on his condition.

“Orioles’ Trevor Rogers (illness) says he will not be needing a rehab assignment. Ongoing conversations with coaching staff over whether he will return during Yankees series. He is first eligible to return from IL on Monday,” reported Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun.

This is huge for the Orioles. Even though Rogers has been inconsistent this year, he has shown he is capable of much more. Last season, in 18 starts for Baltimore, the 28-year--old southpaw posted a 1.81 ERA, which was one of the biggest positives from a disappointing 2025. That larger sample size gives the team hope he can return to that form once healthy.

Rogers’ career has been filled with highs and lows. He debuted with the Miami Marlins in 2020 and broke out in 2021 with an All-Star selection. However, two inconsistent and injury-filled seasons followed, leading to his trade to Baltimore at the 2024 deadline. The Orioles believed they were acquiring an elite arm, and his 2025 performance validated that belief.

Baltimore needs stability in its rotation, and getting Rogers back could provide exactly that as the team tries to climb back into contention. The Orioles are entering Sunday with a 17-23 record. The team has dropped to fifth place in the American League East. Although it is just May, the path back will not be easy in such a tough decision.
