The right-hander had his second-worst start of the season on Tuesday, giving up eight hits and six earned runs to the Cleveland Guardians.

The Baltimore Orioles and Brandon Young didn't get the results they were looking for on Tuesday night against the Cleveland Guardians when he had his second-worst outing this season, giving up eight hits and six earned runs through only 3.2 innings pitched to hand the team a 9-5 loss.

Following the matchup, the 28-year-old right-hander expressed his frustration with his performance while acknowledging the importance of him doing better going forward.

"Pretty pissed off. Didn’t do my job, and there’s no excuse for it," Young told Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun.

With the loss, Young fell to 9-4 overall while posting a 3.71 ERA and striking out 112 batters through 140.2 innings of work.

The Guardians attacked Young early on as Jo Adell drove in Steven Kwan with a one-run single in the first while Patrick Bailey scored Ángel Martínez in the second and Travis Bazzana crushed a hanging four-seam fastball for a three-run homer to right-center field that put them ahead 5-0.

Cleveland quickly extended the lead in the third when Petey Halpin brought home Nathaniel Lowe with an RBI single while the Guardians put two more men on the basepaths to chase Young out of the game during the fourth.

The Orioles ended the shutout that same inning when Samuel Basallo grounded out, allowing Jackson Holliday to come in. They would also heat up in the fifth when Leody Taveras drove in Blaze Alexander while scoring himself off a one-run single by Holliday.

Pete Alonso then brought the game within one, launching a two-run shot to left field but also spoiled Baltimore's efforts in the seventh when a costly throwing error allowed José Ramírez to score.

Brayan Rocchio wrapped up the barrage with a two-run single that drove in Adell and Martínez.

Colton Cowser attempted to ignite a late rally in the ninth with a competitive six-pitch walk, however, Guardians closer Cade Smith held on to strike out a pair of Orioles in Taveras and Holliday.

Other than Tuesday, Young has otherwise been one of Baltimore's most reliable arms this season, helping the team earn a 5-2 win over the Minnesota Twins on Aug. 11 when he fanned four batters and gave up a single earned run.

He should get an opportunity for a bounce-back outing during the Orioles' upcoming series next week against the New York Mets who have ranked fourth in the NL East and had a similar season to Baltimore in which they've consistently sat around or below .500.

In the meantime, the club will have their sights on securing the series win this evening at 6:35 p.m. EDT when right-hander Shane Baz faces off against Cleveland's Foster Griffin.
