For Orioles outfielder Nick Markakis earned one Hall of Fame vote.

Former Baltimore Orioles outfielder Nick Markakis enjoyed a strong MLB career. He spent nine seasons in Baltimore with the Orioles and six years with the Atlanta Braves. While he earned three Gold Gloves, one Silver Slugger and one All-Star selection, Markakis, in all reality, did not have a Hall of Fame career. However, that did not stop him from receiving one Hall of Fame vote on the 2026 ballot.

With 0.2 percent of the vote, Markakis did indeed receive one single vote. While it was surprising, seeing the former Orioles and Braves player land on the ballot was nice. As mentioned, while it may not have been Hall of Fame worthy, Markakis had an impressive overall big league career.

Nick Markakis' MLB Career

Markakis played at the MLB level from 2006-2020. The outfielder finished sixth in American League Rookie of the Year voting with the O's in 2026. One part of Markakis' game that stood out was his ability to stay on the field. Aside from the shortened 2020 season, Markakis appeared in at least 147 games in 12 out of 14 seasons.

Markakis was an old-school left-handed hitter. He often hit for average while also getting on base at a respectable rate. Markakis was never known as a truly elite power bat, but he did record at least 20 home runs or more on two separate occasions.

Overall, Markakis retired with a strong .288/.357/.423 slash line. He had 189 home runs, 2,388 hits, 514 doubles and a .781 OPS.

In addition to his offensive prowess, Markakis was a stellar defensive presence in right field. As aforementioned, he earned three career Gold Glove awards. He had a strong throwing arm and led the league in assists twice and putouts once. Markakis walked away from the game with a quality .994 fielding percentage.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that former outfielders Andruw Jones and Carlos Beltran were elected to the Hall of Fame. Both were deserving to say the least, as they were two of the better outfielders in the game when they played in MLB.

While Markakis may not ever get into the Hall of Fame, he can always say that he did earn a vote for the honor. Nick Markakis had a respectable career and Orioles fans were surely intrigued to see that he received at least some attention for the Hall of Fame.
