The Baltimore Orioles offense is beginning to look scary.

The Baltimore Orioles added first baseman Pete Alonso on a five-year, $155 million deal, bolstering an already promising lineup. But how does their offense stack up against the rest of the AL East?

    1. New York Yankees: The Yankees remain the top-rated offense in the division heading into 2026 after posting 5.24 runs per game in 2025, which led all of MLB. They return with a similar core group of players, though they could lose outfielder Cody Bellinger to free agency. For now, until they are dethroned, New York still boasts the best hitter in baseball in Aaron Judge, supported by a lineup filled with sluggers and rising stars that make them the most feared offense in the league.

    2. Toronto Blue Jays: The Blue Jays ranked second, averaging 5.83 runs per game across the 2025 postseason, proving their offense could deliver under the brightest lights. Perhaps most impressive is the fact that they made much of their playoff push without Bo Bichette. There is a strong case they could soon be the best in the division, especially if they retain Bichette or sign outfielder Kyle Tucker, widely regarded as the top available player. It would not be surprising if Toronto pursued both. After coming up just one win short of the World Series, the future continues to look bright.

    3. Baltimore Orioles: With Alonso in the fold, the Orioles move up the list. Their lineup is young, deep and still developing, with infielder Jackson Holliday and catcher Samuel Basallo expected to play bigger roles in 2026. Alonso provides stability, durability and power, having played nearly every game year after year. Baltimore’s offense ranked 24th last season, but the additions of Taylor Ward and Alonso should spark significant improvement.

    4. Boston Red Sox: Boston’s ranking depends on whether they land an impact bat. Third baseman Alex Bregman remains a free agent, and if the Red Sox add him or another slugger, they could climb higher. With left-handed hitter Roman Anthony set to play his first full season and a strong young core already in place, Boston has the potential to rise quickly.

    5. Tampa Bay Rays: The Rays round out the division. Their offense, led by Junior Caminero, Brandon Lowe and Yandy Diaz, is solid but lacks the star power of the other AL East teams. In a division loaded with elite lineups, Tampa Bay’s bats simply do not measure up to the firepower of their rivals.
