As of October 27, 2025, Craig Albernaz has been hired as the 21st manager of the Baltimore Orioles franchise.
Coming over from Cleveland where he served as the associate manager alongside Stephen Vogt, Albernaz has all the experience needed to turn Baltimore into a World Series contending team.
Albernaz started his coaching career in 2015 as a hitting coach for the Tampa Bay Rays' Single-A affiliate the Princeton Rays. Albernaz found much success coaching at that level, eventually getting promoted to manager of Princeton where he earned Midwest Manager of the Year honors in 2018.
In 2020, Albernaz made the jump to the major leagues as he was hired by the San Francisco Giants as their bullpen and catching coach. During the 2020 season, San Francisco's bullpen had a 2.97 ERA -- the lowest mark in the entire MLB. The Giants would ultimately win the NL West that season, with Albernaz's coaching philosophy playing a massive role.

Albernaz was a highly coveted manager during the 2024 offseason, receiving interest to be the manager of the Miami Marlins and Chicago White Sox. However, Albernaz would elect to stay in Cleveland for one more season.
Albernaz would eventually depart from Cleveland following the 2025 season, as he received even more interest amongst ball clubs for their vacant manager position.
On October 27, 2025, Albernaz was hired to be the newest manager of the Baltimore Orioles, marking a new era in Baltimore sports.
Dating back to his first year as a manager in 2015, Albernaz's ability to connect with his players is one of one.
Baltimore has a surplus of young up and coming talent, such as Gunnar Henderson, Jackson Holliday, Samuel Basallo, Dylan Beavers, Colton Cowser and others.
Albernaz focuses on player relationships and individual player development, while being an open and honest communicator throughout the club house.
He wants Baltimore's youth to harness in on their identity of "attacking the little things" while taking ownership of themselves and the game.
Albernaz has built a "for the boys" mentality of putting the players first and promoting an environment built on their strengths, not weaknesses.
Albernaz is a young baseball mind who is blessed with the ability of communication and honesty. I expect Albernaz to lead this Baltimore Orioles team both on and off the field with the hope of reaching a World Series in the near future.
