The ultra-aggressive San Diego Padres were exactly that once again at the MLB Trade Deadline.

While the big move was acquiring Mason Miller in a deal with the Athletics and bringing in Ryan O'Hearn and Ramon Laureano in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles, GM AJ Preller made a last-second trade at the deadline.

It was acquiring left-handed pitcher Nestor Cortes from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for outfielder Brandon Lockridge.

Lockridge played in 12 games with the Padres in 2024, but he was able to play in 47 games this season with San Diego, including a handful of starts due to injuries in the outfield.

Since then, Lockridge played in 20 regular-season games with Milwaukee, hitting .261 with six RBI and two stolen basses in just 46 at-bats.

However, Lockridge was in the starting lineup for Game 3 of the National League Wild Card series against the Chicago Cubs.

It marked Lockridge's first start in the majors since August 28, and he had no at-bats in the postseason until Wednesday's game.

Blake Perkins started in center field in Games 1 and 2, but now Pat Murphy is going with Lockridge with the Brewers one game away from moving on to the NLCS.
