The San Diego Padres' offense silenced, managing only singles in a frustrating shutout loss against the White Sox on Saturday night.

The San Diego Padres have now lost four straight games as they fell to the Chicago White Sox 4-0 on Saturday night at Petco Park.

On Friday, the White Sox won 8-2, and it was a scoreless game on Saturday until Chicago scored two runs each in the sixth and seven innings.

Michael King, who has been the best starter this season for the Padres, gave up four runs on seven hits in six innings as he earned his second loss of the season.

King was dealing through five innings, but he allowed the first runs of the game as Miguel Vargas had a two-run double.

Bradgley Rodriguez's strong season continued as he threw one shutout inning on just nine pitches, dropping his ERA to 1.76 and making it even more difficult for the franchise to think about sending him to the minor leagues.

Kyle Hart threw a scoreless inning and Jeremiah Estrada had a scoreless inning with three strikeouts in his first outing since returning from injury.

Unfortunately, the offense was nowhere to be found for the Padres.

They recorded just six hits, with Jackson Merrill and Miguel Andujar each having two in the game, and Jake Cronenworth and Ramon Laureano recording the others.

All six hits came via singles, and San Diego had three walks with 11 strikeouts as the offense cooled off considerably.

Sean Burke got the start for the White Sox, and his impressive 2026 campaign continued. Burke went six innings, allowing four hits with just one walk and registering eight strikeouts as he moved to 2-2 with a 2.72 ERA.

The Padres made things a bit interesting in the ninth inning. Merrill singled and moved to second on a wild pitch and Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts walked to load the bases.

But, Seranthony Dominguez came in for the White Sox, and the rest is history.

Gavin Sheets struck out, Andujar flied out and Luis Campusano struck out to leave the bases stranded in a disappointing outing in front of the Friar Faithful on Saturday.

The Padres had also gone seven innings Friday night without a run before scoring two in the eighth, so the offense in San Diego has been missing.

On Sunday, the Padres appear set to start Griffin Canning in his Padres debut

The White Sox have Anthony Kay scheduled to start, and the Padres are just hoping to avoid the sweep.
