Anthony and Hunter open up the show discussing the recent signing of Sung-mun Song, who inked a four-year $15 million deal with the San Diego Padres.
Hunter notes that he has high hopes for the infielder, and the duo believes that the 29-year-old will quickly become a fan-favorite in San Diego, and take it a step further by predicting his jersey sales will be through the roof -- especially with his home country of South Korea in the mix.
Next up on the list was first baseman Ryan O'Hearn, opting to leave the Padres for the Pittsburgh Pirates on a two-year deal, but neither Hunter nor Anthony thinks his departure will have too much of a negative implication on the club moving forward. Alternatively, the duo thinks the signing was a great move for Pittsburgh and what the team is building.
Looking across the league, Hunter discusses how fortunate San Diego is to have AJ Preller at the helm, and doubles down on his confidence that the Padres will make a few more splashes ahead of the 2026 season -- despite being relatively quiet thus far.
Anthony talks about the upcoming fan fest held at Petco Park and the importance of holding events of that nature every year, connecting fans and the team on a deeper level. All of this to say, there's still plenty of faith in ownership and the front office that they will continue to lead the Padres in the right direction.
One of the most talked-about storylines of the offseason was the Padres' pursuit of infielder Munetaka Murakami, who ultimately signed with the Chicago White Sox. The duo talks about the implications of the Padres losing out on the highly-touted Japanese star, and what it could mean for the organization going forward.
Lastly, looking back at the 2025 season, our duo looks at Major League Baseball's ranking of the best bat flips of the season. Make sure to watch the full podcast to see where MLB ranked right-fielder Fernando Tatis Jr.'s first-career walk-off, against the Los Angeles Angels' Kenley Jansen.
