After multiple days off to reset, Alec Bohm came up big in the Philadelphia Phillies' win over the Colorado Rockies.
Alec Bohm was out of the Philadelphia Phillies’ lineup in their final two games against the Athletics and in the series opener against the Colorado Rockies.
The third baseman wasn’t injured, and manager Don Mattingly wanted to give the hitter a few days off to mentally reset after what has been an objectively abysmal start to the 2026 season.
Even Bohm said on Friday that he felt he didn’t have many answers to what’s been going wrong with his swing. Whatever he tried to adjust or fix just didn’t yield results.
With all that adversity surrounding Bohm, he was back in Philly’s lineup on Saturday and bounced back in a big way.
In Bohm’s first at-bat, he perfectly timed a fastball in the middle-inside of the zone and crushed a home run over the left field wall, tying the game up at one run apiece at the time.
You could see the weight lift of Bohm’s shoulders as he rounded the bases, as the Philly faithful gave him a nice ovation as he touched home plate. The Phillies also gave their teammate a warm welcome back into the dugout.

After this solo shot, Bohm tried not to crack a smile as he touched home plate for the second time in the game.
The Phillies are going to need Bohm if they want to reach their ultimate goal this season, and he proved that on Saturday evening. Even Mattingly admitted that while it was nice to see Bohm hit the home runs to get back on track, they were also pivotal plays in Philly’s eventual 9-3 victory.
“We know what Bohm can do,” said Aaron Nola after the game. “We know how hard he works, his craft, and what kind of hitter he is. Sometimes, as players, we go through some slumps, and we’ve just got to keep on working, and try to get out of it, and he did that today.”
Philadelphia is well aware of the type of hitter that Bohm has the potential to be when he’s swinging a hot bat. Hopefully, this is a sign of what’s to come for the 29-year-old as he and the Phillies are getting back on track.
