Bryce Harper gets honest as the Philadelphia Phillies losing streak reaches 10 games.

The Philadelphia Phillies losing streak reached 10 games on Friday night with their 5-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves. It’s the franchise’s longest stretch without a win since 1999, and there are no clear fixes in sight.

After Philly’s loss on Friday, Harper opened up about where the team is at right now and gave a very honest answer about how the season has gone.

“It’s not great. Obviously, not in the spot where we want to be, I said it multiple times. It's like beating a dead horse, man,” said Harper.

“I mean, we can all say everything, the same thing every single day. Nobody wants to hear it. We just gotta win, plain and simple. I understand we lost tonight, understand that we had a great day yesterday, all those things, right? It doesn't matter until you win a game.”

Harper clearly isn’t happy, and that’s exactly what Phillies fans should want to hear from their superstar player. All the talk about the team getting good work in and being close only means so much when the outcome doesn't change.

Plus, individually, Harper is putting together a pretty solid season after facing some adversity over the offseason. After a slow start, the 33-year-old has a .258/.345/.515 slash line with a 134 OPS+. Harper even hit a home run in Friday night’s loss.

The losing streak is one thing, but with the Phillies now sitting at 8-18 and at the bottom of the National League East, there are certainly questions about whether this is already turning into a lost season, even though the team came into the year with World Series aspirations.

Harper does still believe that this team has the talent and capability to turn it around, though.

“It's not good, but obviously, there's a lot of teams that have come back from where we're at,” continued Harper.

“We just gotta keep going, keep plugging.
Yeah, I mean, we just gotta, we gotta play baseball. We gotta know, you know, look in the mirror and understand what our game is.”

The Phillies will get another opportunity to get back in the win column on Saturday and prevent themselves from matching the long losing streak in over two decades.
