Bryce Harper credits the Philadelphia Phillies' fight in their win over the San Francisco Giants.
The Philadelphia Phillies have not had much success at Oracle Park over the last few years, and it looked like that trend was going to continue in their series opener against the San Francisco Giants on Monday night.
Andrew Painter struggled the second time through San Francisco’s lineup and gave up four earned runs in 4.0 innings of work. During that time, the Phillies' offense offered no run support as the team faced a 4-0 deficit midway through the game.
However, thanks to a two-run fifth inning and a four-run seventh inning, the Phillies came back to take the series opener over the Giants, with a final score of 6-4.
At the center of this comes a come-from-behind victory, which was Bryce Harper’s best game of the young 2026 season. The Phillies' star slugger went 3-for-4 at the plate, mashed two doubles, and drove in three of Philadelphia’s runs.
After the game, Harper simply gave credit to his team for the way they battled. Harper led the team in RBI, but his teammates still had to get on base in front of him, which they did.

So being able to get a hit on a cold night. I mean, wind's blowing, so whenever you get your first one, it's nice.”
Harper continued, “A lot of fight in this club. Obviously, we're a really good team, and just gotta go out there and do those things, and play the game well, play right, have good at-bats, good pitching, all that kind of stuff. So when all of it gets put together, it's pretty good.”
In terms of Harper’s performance, he attributed it to how well he’s historically played in San Francisco and how well he sees the ball at Oracle Park.
“I love playing here. My whole career, I have. There are times where I come in here, I have good series, and sometimes, I don't,” continued Haprer. “One of my favorite parks to play in. Obviously, good fan base, good city. I love this park. Anytime I can, come in and have a good series; it's always a good thing.”
Monday marked Philly’s second come-from-behind victory of the season, which is a testament to, as Harper said, the fight this team has.
Hopefully, the Phillies don’t need to continue to rely on come-from-behind performances, but it’s still nice to see Philadelphia add another victory to the win column this early in the season.
