Kyle Schwarber is chasing down the home run lead after a multi-homer effort in the Philadelphia Phillies' win over the Colorado Rockies.

Last year, on Mother’s Day, Kyle Schwarber had a multi-home run performance and helped the Philadelphia Phillies to a win.

It must be something about the touch of pink equipment, because on Sunday, Schwarber had another Mother’s Day performance to remember as the slugger had another two home run game in Philadelphia’s 6-0, series-clinching victory over the Colorado Rockies.

In his first at-bat, the Rockies starter Tomoyuki Sugano left a four-seam fastball in the middle of the zone, and Schwarber didn’t miss it, crushing the ball to deep center field for his first homer of the game. It also gave Philadelphia an early 1-0 lead, which would immediately be followed by a two-run homer as the pair of stars went back-to-back.

Just an inning later, Schwarber was back up at the plate, and this time Sugano threw a splitter that just didn’t seem to break the way he wanted it to, and the Phillies pulled a ball over the right field wall for his second homer of the game.

These two homers were fairly substantial when looking at the MLB leaderboard. Schwarber has now hit five home runs in the last five games and hit a long ball in four straight games. His 16 homers on the season are the most in the National League and tied for the most in all of Major League Baseball with Aaron Judge.

“Just happy, I got to stack more than one good swing,” said Schwarber after the game. “Great overall effort today by the boys; unreal. And at-bats have been great.”

Up to this point in the season, Schwarber now owns 47 wRC+, and his .950 OPS is actually higher than it was a year ago when he was the runner-up in the National League MVP race.

If you do the math, Schwarber is now on pace to hit 63 home runs on the season. Considering he hit 56 in 2025, it’s not outlandish to think that the superstar slugger could actually get there.

The most important thing, though, and something that Schwarber also acknowledged after the game, was that the Phillies got another series victory and continue their hunt to get back on track in the National League playoff hunt.
