Philadelphia Phillies Alec Bohm reportedly sues parents in new lawsuit.
Alec Bohm endured another offseason of uncertainty about what his future with the Philadelphia Phillies would look like. The third baseman has been in trade rumors the last few offseasons, and that was once again the story over the winter.
Ultimately, Bohm stayed in Philly and was in the Opening Day lineup, hitting fourth in their matchup against the Texas Rangers on Thursday. Not only was he hitting cleanup, but Bohm was responsible for over half of Philadelphia’s runs in its 5-3 victory.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Bohm hit an opposite-field three-run home run, extending the Phillies’ lead to five at the time. It’s early, but if that’s the type of production the Philies can expect from Bohm in 2026, Philadelphia’s lineup will be much deeper.
All in all, Bohm couldn’t have asked for much better Opening Day on the field. Unfortunately, the home run wasn’t the only reason he was in the news on Thursday.
Shortly before first pitch, the Philly Inquirer reported that Bohm is suing his parents for alleged mishandling of his finances. Bohm is seeking $3 million and an accounting of the funds in the lawsuit.

The AP included that, “Bohm’s lawsuit, filed Wednesday in a Philadelphia court, comes after he began to review his personal and financial affairs in recent months, and said that his parents refused to give him access to the accounts or provide him with the information he sought about them.”
Bohm was asked about the lawsuit after the Phillies’ victory on Thursday and what it’s been like, but the Phillies' infielder declined to comment on the situation and wants to focus on his play on the field.
“I’m not going to address any personal matters right now,” said Bohm. “I’ll answer any question about the game.”
