The Philadelphia Phillies didn't make any significant trades this offseason and are heading into 2026 with a roster very similar to the one they fielded last year.
This has rubbed many Phillies fans the wrong way, but it seemed pretty clear all along that Philadelphia's front office was closely monitoring its payroll throughout the winter.
However, that doesn't necessarily mean that the Phillies will end the 2026 campaign looking exactly like they do now. In fact, that's probably unlikely.
Chances are, Philadelphia will make a significant move somewhere between now and the August trade deadline, and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic has already revealed that the Phillies could move third baseman Alec Bohm between now and then.
"Without [Bo] Bichette, the Phillies still intend for [Aidan] Miller to play third next season, if not sooner," Rosenthal wrote. "Miller’s locker this spring is only a few feet away from Bohm’s, a vivid and daily reminder of the veteran’s uncertain future. It’s not out of the question that the Phillies could move Bohm before the trade deadline."
The fact that Bohm is being mentioned as a trade candidate this early should not come as too much of a surprise to anyone.

Of course, much of Bohm's future will depend on Miller's development in the minor leagues. A shortstop by trade, Miller will have to change positions because of the presence of Trea Turner. That makes Bohm expendable.
But if Miller struggles in Triple-A, Bohm might at least make it through the 2026 campaign at the hot corner in Philly.
It's also entirely possible that the Phillies seek to upgrade at third base in general, but we don't know who could be available for trade just yet.
Bohm slashed .287/.331/.409 with 11 home runs and 59 RBI over 504 plate appearances last season and owns a lifetime .743 OPS since entering the big leagues in 2020.
The former No. 3 overall pick certainly hasn't been terrible, but he also hasn't lived up to his lofty expectations.
