The Philadelphia Phillies could add this intriguing hitter this offseason.

The Philadelphia Phillies haven't done a whole lot to improve their offense this offseason. Yes, they re-signed Kyle Schwarber, but their only other move has been signing Adolis Garcia, who has posted a sub-.700 OPS in each of the last two years.

So what is the next move for the Phillies?

Both Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger seem to be out of the question for the cash-strapped squad, and Philadelphia also seems rather reluctant to include its top prospects in trade packages.

Well, Matt Gelb of The Athletic has revealed that the Phillies are seeking "complementary right-handed bats" in the outfield, and one name they have been tied to specifically is Rob Refsnyder.

Refsnyder has spent the last four seasons with the Boston Red Sox and is coming off of a 2025 campaign in which he slashed .269/.354/.484 with nine home runs and 30 RBI over 209 plate appearances.

The 34-year-old was particularly effective against left-handed pitching, posting a .302/.399/.560 slash line versus southpaws.

Both Brandon Marsh and Justin Crawford — who are currently slated to start in Philadelphia's outfield next season — are left-handed hitters, so adding another righty into the mix along with Garcia would be ideal for the Phillies.

Aside from 2023 when Refsnyder finished with a .683 OPS, the South Korean native was a very solid hitter with the Red Sox, managing an .804 OPS across 936 trips to the dish in Boston.

Refsnyder began his major-league career with the New York Yankees in 2015 and also spent time with the Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins before finally finding a home in Beantown.

The former fifth-round pick owns a lifetime .255/.343/.387 slash line, smashing lefties to the tune of an .826 OPS.

Refsnyder could certainly be had on an affordable short-term deal, but given how well he fares against left-handers, he should have a pretty robust market.

The downside to Refsnyder is that he is not the greatest defensive player in the world, but he would only be used in a part-time role.

We'll see if the Phillies are able to close a deal on the talented slugger.
