The Philadelphia Phillies could try and land this underrated power hitter during the MLB offseason.

The Philadelphia Phillies definitely need to add some more offense this offseason, but the pickings will be rather slim.

This isn't going to be a great free-agent market, meaning the market will be very competitive for the top bats.

However, the Phillies don't really have a choice. They must bring in some more pop, particularly in the outfield.

On that note, one player who makes a whole lot of sense for Philadelphia this winter is Randy Arozarena.

Arozarena has spent the last two-and-a-half years with the Seattle Mariners and is coming off of a terrific 2026 campaign in which he slashed .281/.381/.484 with 26 home runs and 79 RBI over 670 plate appearances. Additionally, he stole 26 bases.

The 31-year-old will be one of the best players available in the coming months, and he wills surely have many potential suitors.

But few teams need Arozarena as badly as the Phillies.

Philadelphia tried to fix its outfield situation by signing Adolis Garcia last offseason. Garcia then posted a .599 OPS through 67 games before a shoulder injury knocked him out for the rest of the year.

The Phillies absolutely need to swing higher than Garcia this time around, and Arozarena could be the perfect fit.

Yes, 2026 may have been a bit of an outlier for Arozarena, but he has still been a good hitter historically, owning a lifetime .792 OPS. He has hit 20-plus homers six years in a row, and he is also a career .292/.380/.656 hitter with 12 long balls in the playoffs.

That is exactly what Philadelphia needs.

Arozarena certainly isn't the greatest defender in the world, but at this point, the Phillies just need bats. They shouldn't concern themselves too much with Arozarena's below average glove.

The problem will be the price tag.

Because Arozarena is slated to be one of the top sluggers on the market, he will command a hefty price, likely in excess of $100 million. Given that he turns 32 in February, that is a bit worrisome, but again, what choice does Philadelphia have?

Getting younger should be on the Phillies' agenda, but assuming they don't trade Bryce Harper or Kyle Schwarber, they also need to win now, and Arozarena would help them achieve that.

It would be surprising — and truly disappointing — if Philadelphia didn't make a strong push for the three-time All-Star this winter.
