Phillies Dealt Major Concern as Playoff Race Heats Up cover image

The Philadelphia Phillies are facing a major concern with the playoffs coming up quickly.

At this point in time, the Philadelphia Phillies are in a great spot when it comes to the National League East division race. They are currently up seven games on the New York Mets and seem extremely likely to hold onto that lead.

While the division race is in a good place, the Phillies have been dealt a major concern.

The postseason is right around the corner. Unfortunately, star shortstop Trea Turner went down with a hamstring injury on Sunday.

According to a report from Justin Morris of MLB.com, Turner will be undergoing an MRI today. Fans are waiting nervously for the results of that MRI.

Following the game, Turner spoke out about his hamstring injury.

“[My hamstring was] just kind of grabbing on me,” Turner said. “It didn’t feel good, felt like if I could’ve kept going I would’ve, but [I wanted to] get out of there and try to limit the damage.”

As all Phillies fans know, Turner dealt with hamstring problems last season and missed time because of it. The hope is that he isn't forced to miss much time this year.

Turner also spoke out about the timing of the injury. Just like all the fans, he's not happy with how close to the playoffs this hamstring issue has popped up.

“It’s never a good time, really,” Turner said. "But something like this late is not fun. And when these games really matter, you need to be out there. [That’s the] more frustrating part with that more than anything -- is coming down the stretch, playing in big games and not being able to be out there. So hopefully it's not too many [games that I miss].”

Throughout the course of the 2025 MLB season, Turner has played in 140 games. He has hit 15 home runs to go along with 69 RBI, while batting .305/.356/.458.

Those numbers show just how impactful Turner has been at the plate. Losing him for any stretch of time would be a tough blow for Philadelphia.

All of that being said, the MRI results should be coming soon and an update on Turner will be given shortly after. The Phillies desperately need those results to be favorable.

Hopefully, this isn't something that causes an issue for Turner long-term and he'll be healthy and good to go within a few days. Philadelphia is looking to make a World Series run, but having to do that without Turner would be much more difficult.
