Kyle Schwarber makes Philadelphia Phillies history as he leads MLB with 30 home runs.
After an April filled with adversity and questions, the Philadelphia Phillies are now 10 games over .500 and are even closing in on the Atlanta Braves at the top of the division.
Philadelphia’s season turnaround has been one of the best stories of the 2026 MLB season so far, and at the heart of that is the historic season Kyle Schwarber has been putting together at the plate.
Schwarber has always been known for his power, but he is now exceeding even his own expectations and standards.
In the seventh inning of Sunday afternoon’s game against the New York Mets, Schwarber did it again; he hit a ball to deep center field that easily cleared the wall.
This home run wasn’t just impactful in terms of the game, giving the Phillies a late one-run lead, but it also marked Schwarber’s 30th home run of the season.
Yes, on June 28, just after the halfway point of the regular season, and weeks before the All-Star Break, Schwarber hit his 30th home run. Unsurprisingly, he even made a little bit of Philadelphia franchise history in the making.
Schwarber became the fastest player in Phillies history to hit 30 home runs in a single season.
The slugger also has the third most 30+ home runs seasons, trailing Ryan Howard (six) and Mike Schmidt (13). Finally, Schwarber also has the third-most consecutive 30+ home run seasons in Phillies, again, just behind Howard (six) and Schmidt (nine).

Very fortunate to get to this point this early, but it's not something that I truly focus on,” said Schwarber postgame Sunday.
“I think it's just more the fact of trying to take your at-bats, having quality at-bats, and trying to help any way possible. Those guys on the field and help them win.”
Schwarber also acknowledged just how important this home run was in terms of winning over the Mets, and that he just wants to do whatever it takes to help the team win.
The Phillies still have more work to do to hopefully get back to the postseason this year. That said, it’s becoming very evident that Philadelphia’s season ceiling is heavily tied to Schwarber’s success at the plate.
