Philadelphia Phillies star Kyle Schwarber took some time to speak out after a wild win over the Houston Astros.

Throughout the course of the 2026 MLB season, Philadelphia Phillies star slugger Kyle Schwarber has been one of the best hitters in baseball. He is currently leading the league in home runs and has shown no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

On Wednesday, the Phillies found themselves in a wild game against the Houston Astros.

Both teams scored four runs in the third inning, but the Astros quickly claimed the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth. Philadelphia bounced back with a run in the bottom of the fifth and a six-run sixth inning. Houston added one more run in the seventh, which made the final score 11-7.

In that sixth inning that yielded six runs for the Phillies, Schwarber played a big part. He hit a grand slam to extend the lead to 11-6. Philadelphia never looked back.

Following the game, Schwarber took some time to share his thoughts on the game and his team as a whole.

“That’s a good question; I don’t know,” Schwarber said of his grand slam. “It just happened to go out.”

Schwarber also made it clear that he loves the resiliency the Phillies play with.

“I feel like there was a lot of good things to look at the game today. Got punched right away, we respond right back, punch right back. Kept finding ways to keep responding, keep trying to find ways to put guys on base, scoring position, execute.”

Philadelphia wants to be a complete baseball team. Schwarber touched on that subject as well.

“We want to be known for doing all the little things right as well, too. That could be singles, getting guys over, situational baseball as well.”

With the playoffs coming up quickly, Schwarber knows that the Phillies will need to simply find ways to win baseball games.

“We’re going to need to find ways to win games. We just can’t always be a pretty standard, straightforward game sometimes. There’s going to be times, like we’ve seen it throughout the rest of this year, where we’ve come back, battled through different things. That’s what it’s going to take to get through this stretch and hopefully find our way into October.”

Next up for Philadelphia will be the finale of its three-game series against the Astros on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET and will feature Zack Wheeler going up against Cristian Javier on the mound.

As for Schwarber, he has now hit 44 home runs on the season and has driven in 92 RBI.
