The Philadelphia Phillies have made a decision on Luis Arraez before their wild-card series with the Braves starts.

The Philadelphia Phillies will be taking on the rival Atlanta Braves in the National League wild-card series.

Philadelphia finished the season as the final team in the wild-card standings, and they will now be heading on the road to face Atlanta. Thankfully, these two teams know each other very well, and everything from the regular season now goes out the window.

The Phillies went 4-9 against the Braves this season, but the postseason sees everyone start with a clean slate. However, the Phillies will be missing one of their key players entering the matchup with the Braves due to injury.

Ahead of the series starting on Tuesday, the Phillies have made a decision on infielder Luis Arraez. Arraez will not be on the playoff roster for the Phillies against the Braves, with Otto Kemp taking his place.

Arraez suffered a left ankle sprain over the final few games of the regular season while attempting to avoid a tag at a base. His status for the playoffs remains in doubt, and Philadelphia will need to figure out how to replace his production.

Losing Arraez for the series against Atlanta is certainly a blow for the Phillies lineup, especially with the team struggling offensively of late. Arraez was one of the big acquisitions for this group at the trade deadline, and he had provided a real spark to the lineup.

Since coming to Philadelphia at the trade deadline, Arraez had hit .278 with two home runs, 21 RBIs, and 49 hits while posting a .678 OPS. Arraez's numbers weren't as strong with the Phillies as they were with the San Francisco Giants, but he provided this team with something that they had been missing.

Arraez thrives on getting on base while putting the ball in play, rather than him simply trying to hit home runs. Having this type of player allowed the Phillies offense to be more well-rounded, and they will surely miss his services against the Braves.

Who is Otto Kemp?

Kemp has played in 13 games this season for the Phillies, hitting .080 with zero home runs, zero RBIs, one walk, and two hits.

Last season, Kemp appeared in 62 games for Philadelphia, hitting .234 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs, while drawing 12 walks and posting a .709 OPS.

Philadelphia will be hoping that Kemp doesn't have to play much in this series with the Braves, instead being used as more of a depth piece. But if he has to give it a go, the team has faith that he can be an impactful player.
