The Philadelphia Phillies have gotten off to a rough start, and there is plenty of blame to go around.
The Philadelphia Phillies lost yet another series over the weekend, this time dropping two out of three to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Once again, the Phillies' offense was a problem, specifically when it came to cashing in on opportunities.
After Philadelphia's 4-3 loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday, All-Star shortstop Trea Turner revealed the biggest issue the Phillies seem to be facing right now.
“No. I mean, I feel like the traffic, at least today, was out there,” Turner told Tim Kelly of OnPattison. “We had some guys on base, and need to be more consistent, have a little bit better at bats, more team at bats, moving guys around, and getting the little things done. Not that we're not trying, but that seems to be the difference in those certain innings.”
Turner himself went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the series finale against Arizona, so he certainly did his part on Sunday afternoon.
On the season overall, however, Turner has struggled, slashing .254/.299/.365 over 67 plate appearances.
Turner is far from the only Phillies player laboring at the plate, too.

Philadelphia also went 20 innings without scoring a run during its series loss to the San Francisco Giants right before facing the Diamondbacks.
There is obviously plenty of time for the Phillies to turn things around, and on the bright side, Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber have both been producing.
It's probably only a matter of time before the rest of the lineup gets going. At the very least, Philadelphia almost surely won't have two regulars with a sub-.500 OPS a month or so from now.
That being said, Phillies fans blasted the front office during the offseason for not making any significant moves to bolster a lineup that seemed to need a bit more pop behind Harper and Schwarber.
We'll see if Philadelphia's lack of activity does come back to bite the team as we get deeper into the 2026 campaign.
The Phillies will open up a three-game set with the Chicago Cubs on Monday.
