Adolis Garcia has been working on swing adjustments since joining the Philadelphia Phillies, and it's finally showing up in the box score.

The Philadelphia Phillies signed Adolis Garcia, who could return to his 2023 form, and with it, give the team another much-needed power threat out of their outfield position group.

At face value, Garcia’s Spring Training may not seem like it’s been going all that well. Ahead of Tuesday’s Grapefruit League game, he had only five hits for an OPS of .595.

With that in mind, it’s important to remember that Spring Training numbers only mean so much; it’s more about the process, and the Phillies are encouraged by what they’ve seen from the veteran.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that Garcia has been especially focused on and working on “just the bat angle and setup, 'cause he tends to wrap it a little bit, so trying to just calm that down, so you get a shorter route to the ball. He's been working hard at it. He's got aptitude and a work ethic, so, hopefully, it's coming through.”

Garcia is joining a new organization, with new coaches and new voices, for the first time since 2019, after the St. Louis Cardinals designated him for assignment, and the outfielder ended up with the Texas Rangers.

Of course, the new team will have a different view of Garcia’s swing and want him to make some adjustments.

All of the work that Garcia has been doing since he entered the organization is starting to pay off, and that was evident on Tuesday with Garcia’s big day at the plate.

The outfielder finished the day with four hits, including a home run. The exit velocities on Garcia’s hits were 102.5 mph, 103.7 mph, 110.5 mph, and 122.4 mph.

“The work that they're doing is it looks like it's starting to pay out,” said Thomson after the game. “[Garcia] hit the ball hard four times. The home run was really impressive, cutting it through that wind… yeah, it was a good day.”

The most important part of Spring Training for any player is how they progress throughout camp, and it certainly looks like Garcia is headed in the right direction

Hopefully, these swing adjustments that helped Garcia have such an impressive day at the plate can carry over into the regular season and give the Phillies yet another legitimate power threat in the middle of their lineup.
