Adolis Garcia adds much-needed depth to the Philadelphia Phillies' outfield.

Addressing the outfield was always a top priority for the Philadelphia Phillies heading into the offseason. The organization did something about the hat on Monday, as the Phillies reportedly signed Adolis Garcia to a one-year deal with the club.

Here’s how the right-handed hitting slugger will fit on Philadelphia’s roster.

Garica Will Likely Be An Everyday Player With the Phillies

The Phillies not only need more production out of their outfield, but they also need more depth out of the position group. With Garcia’s addition to Philadelphia’s roster, he’s likely in line to be the starting right fielder on Opening Day and be just about an everyday player throughout the season.

One nice part of Garcia’s skill set is that he doesn’t have splits that favor one type of pitcher over another. The 32-year-old has a career OPS of .741 for right-handed pitchers and an OPS of .715 off left-handed pitchers.

Since Garcia is a fairly balanced hitter, there’s nothing holding him back from playing the majority of the innings in right field in 2026.

Where Will Garcia Hit In Philadelphia’s Lineup?

Adolis Garcia is a two-time All-Star, World Series champion, and postseason hero. That said, he hasn’t been that same player over the last few seasons and must earn a top spot in the Phillies’ lineup.

As of now, the top of Philadelphia’s lineup will be some iteration of Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, and Kyle Schwarber.

It would be great if Garcia could re-establish himself as an elite power threat and take over as the cleanup hitter at some point in the season. Looking at the roster right now, though, Rob Thomson may prefer to have a hitter with a higher OBP than Garcia hitting directly behind this trio.

Garcia Adds Something Missing In the Phillies’ Outfield

A lot of attention with Garcia’s addition will be about how he fits into the lineup, but the 32-year-old does bring something the outfield has been missing: defense.

The veteran still has a tremendous arm in the outfield. Garcia’s arm strength clocked in at 92 mph, which ranked in the 92nd percentile in 2025. He also ranked in the 72nd percentile in outs above average.

This iteration of the Phillies has never been super focused on run prevention, which is fine, but now they have someone in the outfield who can throw runners out if needed.
