The Pittsburgh Pirates have revealed the pitching plan for their big series with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will be opening a massive three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers at home this week.

This series could determine a lot for the Pirates, giving them a chance to go against the best team in baseball. Pittsburgh is still fighting for its playoff life, sitting six games back of the final wild-card spot in the National League.

But there is still a chance for this team to make a late-season run. However, it's going to need to happen now, while also getting some help from other teams ahead of them.

Pittsburgh sits behind the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres in the wild-card race. But both teams have been playing well of late.

So, all the Pirates can do is hope for the best and put their best effort out against the Brewers. Milwaukee is a tough challenge for Pittsburgh, but in order to get into the playoffs, these are the types of games the Pirates need to win.

Pirates vs Cubs Probable Pitchers

Tuesday, September 15: RHP Lake Bachar vs RHP Jacob Misiorowski

Bachar gets the nod for Pittsburgh to open the series, and he will be used as an opener. But if he can set the tone, this would go a long way for the Pirates.

The righty owns a 3.52 ERA over 48 appearances (nine starts) this season.

Misiorowski, the Brewers ace, will go in the series opener, looking to keep his incredible season going. The right-hander is currently the favorite to win the NL Cy Young Award, sporting a 1.95 ERA over 27 starts.

Wednesday, September 16: RHP Jared Jones vs RHP Logan Henderson

Jones gets the ball in the second game, hoping for another strong outing. In his last start, Jones fired seven shutout innings against the Chicago White Sox, allowing just one hit while striking out eight batters.

Overall, the right-hander has a 4.10 ERA over 18 starts. If he can put together another top-notch performance, the Pirates will have a chance to win this game.

Going against Jones will be Henderson, who owns a 2.34 ERA over 16 starts.

Thursday, September 17: TBD vs RHP Dustin May

Due to injuries on the Pirates staff, Pittsburgh hasn't announced a starter for this game.

But the team will be facing off against May, whom the Brewers acquired at the trade deadline. Since coming to Milwaukee, May has a 4.91 ERA over seven starts.
