The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced the starting pitching plan for their series with the Chicago Cubs.
Coming off a sweep of the Chicago White Sox, the Pittsburgh Pirates will now be heading to the North Side to take on the Chicago Cubs.
Pittsburgh has played very well of late, helping its chances, albeit slim, of getting back into the wild-card race in the National League. The Pirates have seen a collective effort from both the pitching staff and the offense, giving this team some new life.
Heading into the series with the Cubs, Pittsburgh owns a winning record, coming in at 74-73 for the year. The Pirates have gone 8-2 over their last 10 games overall, showing strong energy with only a few weeks left in the season.
Every game matters at this point, and this series with the Cubs could be very telling. Pittsburgh will try to cut down the lead in the wild-card race, controlling whatever they can.
The Cubs come in with a record of 81-66 on the year, holding a wild-card spot. But Chicago has gone 4-6 over their last 10 games overall.
