Right-hander pitcher Adrian Houser made the most of his 2025 season, and he turned it into a nice two-year, $22 million free agent deal with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. The Giants needed help for the back end of their rotation, and Houser is a perfect fit.

Adrian Houser's 10th major-league season was his best in 2025. He got off to a great start with the Chicago White Sox, and then did some good things with the Tampa Bay Rays after the trade deadline.

His big year — where he went 8-5 with a 3.3`1 earned run average — has netted the free-agent right-hander a big payday. He's signing a two-year, $22 million deal with the San Francisco Giants.

Here is the story from Giants Roundtable writer Anthony Arroyo.

Houser has a career record of 40-44 with a 4.06 ERA and 576 strikeouts in 174 regular-season games (125 starts) over nine MLB seasons with the Rays, White Sox, Brewers and Mets.

The Giants finished 81-81 a year ago and missed the playoffs. The top of their rotation is anchored by Logan Webb (15-11, 3.22 ERA), Robbie Ray (11-8, 3.65 ERA) and Justin Verlander (4-11, 3.85 ERA).

Houser spent a lot of the offseason working on his delivery and mechanics. It paid off. He threw more strikes than in the past, and had better movement on his pitches. With the Chicago White Sox — the worst team in the American League — he made 11 starts with a 6-2 record and a 2.10 ERA.

When he beat the Chicago Cubs on July 25 to go to 6-2 on the season, the White Sox were just 38-38 on the season, a whopping 30 games under .500. With the trade deadline looming, he was sent to the Tampa Bay Rays, who were still thinking they were in the playoff race. He went 2-3 with them in 10 starts.
