When the Texas Rangers get to spring training, new manager Skip Schumaker better be ready to go.
He's had enough time in the offseason to watch tape, look at statistics and analytics, and see who he has on the Rangers' 40-man roster at this point.
Of course, though, all those things have taken place without the old-school "eye test." I mean that Schumaker probably has seen a lot of Rangers holdovers from last season.
Yet there probably is a player or two that Schumaker hasn't seen in the field or on the mound.
So, spring training is that time and place for it to happen.
Schumaker better be ready from the get-go. Time is of the essence for this franchise going into 2026.
