MacKenzie Gore will take the mound for the Texas Rangers as they look to claim a series victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
After a five-run eighth inning gave them the series opener, the Texas Rangers will be back in action for game two of their series against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with parking lots scheduled to open at 4 p.m., followed by gates at 5 p.m.
Wednesday night will mark Backyard Baseball theme night at Globe Life Field. Fans who purchase a theme night ticket to Wednesday's game through the official Rangers website will receive a Texas Rangers Pablo Sanchez bobblehead.
Hot Dog fans will also have a special perk at the ballpark on Wednesday as the Rangers celebrate $1 hot dog night.
MacKenzie Gore will take the mound for the Rangers to make his 19th start of his debut season with Texas.
Coming into play on Wednesday, Gore is 5-7 with a 4.31 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and 104 strikeouts in 96 innings.
In his last start against the Cleveland Guardians, Gore struggled, allowing five earned runs on seven hits over five innings.
Gore has been significantly better pitching in Arlington as opposed to toeing the mound on the road. In 43.1 innings at the Globe, Gore has an ERA of 2.49 and on the road a 5.81.
Any length Gore can give the Rangers will certainly be celebrated after Texas used four relievers in Tuesday night’s win.
Rangers hitters will be tasked with facing Angels right-hander Walbert Urena, who enters play at 5-7 with a 3.03 ERA in 16 appearances (14 starts).
Urena made a start against the Rangers back on May 23 and was solid, going five innings, allowing just one run.
Walks can sometimes be an issue for Urena, who has issued 41 free passes thus far in his rookie season.
Coming into play on Wednesday, the Rangers sit just a half-game out of first place in the American League West. Texas is in sole possession of the AL’s final Wild Card spot despite having a record of just 46-45.
Following Tuesday night’s win, the Rangers spent their 10th consecutive day with a record at or above .500.
That trend will continue after Wednesday, no matter the result, but with a win, Texas would climb two games above .500 and secure a series victory over the Angels in the final week of play before the MLB All-Star break next week.
