The Texas Rangers will continue their homestand with game two in their big series against the Tampa Bay Rays at Globe Life Field.
After picking up one of their best wins of the season on Thursday night, the Texas Rangers are back in action at Globe Life Field for game two of their series with the Tampa Bay Rays.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with parking lots opening at 4:30, followed by ballpark gates at 5 p.m.
When the gates open, the first 10,000 fans will receive a free Retro Windbreaker Pullover presented by Medical City Healthcare.
Also happening when the gates open, former Rangers pitcher Shawn Tolleson (2014-16) will sign autographs for the first 225 fans in line at the New Era Alumni Alley stand located on the Upper Concourse behind Section 223.
The 2023 World Series trophy will also be on display behind Section 117 and available for photo opportunities.
Just before the ballgame, Javier "Chicharito" Hernández, a Mexican soccer star and a striker for Atlético Dallas, will throw out the first pitch.
Those not planning on heading out to the Globe can catch all the action on CW33 as part of their package of select Friday night Rangers broadcasts. 105.3 The Fan will have all the action on the radio side of things.
When the action gets underway, Trevor Williams will get the start for the Rangers as he will make his second appearance since being signed by Texas earlier this week.
Williams comes into play with a 0-0 record, a 3.93 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in just 18.1 innings this season.
Despite getting the start, Williams won’t be the bulk pitcher in this game, as that will go to Kumar Rocker.
Rocker will pitch behind an opener for the third time this season, making his 27th overall appearance.
Coming into play, Rocker is 5-10 with a 4.44 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, and 124 strikeouts in 129.2 innings.
On the other side of the ball, Texas hitters will be tasked with going up against former Ranger Nick Martinez.
Martinez has posted a 13-4 record, a 2.99 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, and 91 strikeouts in 153.2 innings this season.
Entering play, the Rangers sit just two games back of first place in the American League West despite their 70-71 record. In the Wild Card race, Texas is just a half-game back of the final wild card spot. With a win tonight, Texas would be back at .500 on the season.
