Unfortunately, the Texas Rangers couldn’t pull out one more win as they fell 8-3 to the Baltimore Orioles on 'getaway' day.

No matter what happened on Wednesday afternoon, the Texas Rangers had to feel pretty good about themselves following their season-opening road trip.

Coming into their final contest against the Baltimore Orioles, the Rangers had seen positive signs in every phase of the game, leading to their strong start to the season.

Unfortunately, the Rangers couldn’t pull out one more win as they fell 8-3 to Baltimore on “getaway” day.

Nathan Eovaldi got the start for the Rangers on a day in which first-year manager Skip Schumaker’s bullpen was pretty taxed.

However, Wednesday was just not Eovaldi’s day as he managed to go just four innings, allowing eight hits and six runs, picking up his second consecutive loss to open the season.

The Orioles got on the board early, striking for a pair of runs in the second inning, highlighted by an RBI double off the bat of Taylor Ward.

In the third inning, it was former Ranger-now-Oriole Leody Taveras who ripped a two-RBI double to square the Baltimore lead and make it 4-0.

It looked like the Rangers were going to make their climb back into the game as Josh Jung picked up a much-needed RBI single in the fourth for his long-awaited first hit of the season.

Ezequiel Duran also came through in that same inning with an RBI single of his own to cut the Baltimore lead in half and make it 4-2.

Although it wouldn’t take long for the Orioles to break the game open thanks to a three-run fifth.

In the eighth inning, Corey Seager connected on his third home run of the season and second in as many nights.

However, that would be as close as the Rangers got and will take their flight home on a losing effort.

Despite the loss, Texas will return home with a 4-2 record heading into their first series at Globe Life Field of the 2026 season.

The Rangers will take on the Cincinnati Reds beginning with the home opener on Friday, April 3rd, at 3:05 PM CST.

Game two of the series with the Reds will be on Saturday at 6:05 PM CST, before the final game on Easter Sunday at 1:35 PM CST.

Undoubtedly, the Rangers will need to have a good season at home if they want to compete for a postseason spot for the first time since winning it all in 2023.
