New lefty MacKenzie Gore will make his Texas Rangers debut on Sunday afternoon.

Following Saturday afternoon’s thrilling 5-4 victory, the Texas Rangers will be back in action on Sunday afternoon for their series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Manager Skip Schumaker will go for his first series victory as Rangers skipper following his first win on Saturday.

New Texas lefty MacKenzie Gore will make his Rangers debut on Sunday afternoon after being acquired in a trade from the Washington Nationals over the offseason.

Last season, Gore was named an All-Star with Washington for the first time in his young big league career.

There’s no doubt that Gore will be a big piece to the Rangers' rotation, which figures to be one of the best in all of baseball this season.

It’ll be interesting to see the shape of the Rangers' bullpen on Sunday after Texas used six relievers in their wild 10-inning victory on Saturday.

Despite the high volume of relievers used, some guys didn’t throw a ton of pitches and very well could be available for a back-to-back.

Opposing Gore will be Phillies left-hander Jesus Lazardo. Expect Schumaker to roll out a lineup similar to the one we saw on Opening Day on Thursday.

Andrew McCutchen likely will be back in the lineup after his huge base hit in the 10th inning on Saturday, which ended up being the game-winning hit for the Rangers' first win of the 2026 season.

Jake Burger will be another Ranger to watch after he has hit home runs in both of the first two games of the season.

Burger will certainly not hit 162 home runs, but there’s no doubt he will be a key piece to a Rangers offensive rebound after a down year last year.

In the event that the game comes down to the wire, who Schumaker chooses to close out the game will no doubt be a decision that is in the spotlight.

On Saturday, both Robert Garcia and Chris Martin couldn’t get the final out of the game as it was Tyler Alexander who stranded the winning run on base and helped the Rangers to victory.

After their season-opening road trip, the Rangers will finally return to Globe Life Field for their season-opening home series against the Cincinnati Reds.

However, the focus will be on Sunday’s game, and there is no doubt the Rangers will be feeling pretty good if they can come away with a series win against a good Phillies team to open the season.
