The Texas Rangers will take on the Houston Astros at 6:05 p.m at Globe Life Field. Kumar Rocker gets the start for the Rangers.
After a thrilling 7-3 victory on Friday night, the Texas Rangers are back in action at Globe Life Field for the second game of their three-game series against their in-state rival, the Houston Astros.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., with parking lots opening at 3 p.m., followed by gates at 4 p.m.
Former Rangers catcher Dave Valle will be on hand to sign autographs for the first 225 fans in line at the New Era Alumni Alley stand located on the Upper Concourse behind Section 223 beginning at 4:15 p.m.
Fans who purchase a theme night ticket through the Rangers' official website will receive an Ezequiel Duran “The Solution” T-shirt.
The Rangers will also celebrate Stephen F. Austin night at the ballpark. Fans who purchase a community night ticket will receive a limited-edition Rangers Stephen F. Austin University cap.
Anyone not planning on heading out to Globe Life Field can catch all the action on Rangers Sports Network and on 105.3 The Fan on the radio side of things.
Kumar Rocker will toe the rubber to make his 16th start (19th appearance) of the season. He will look to follow up Cal Quantrill’s strong outing of six innings and just one run allowed on Friday night.
Rocker enters play with a 2-7 record, a 3.95 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 74 strikeouts in 84.1 innings pitched this season.
In his last start against the Detroit Tigers back on July 5, Rocker allowed three earned runs in 5.1 innings of work.
It’ll be worth watching to see which arms the Rangers have available in their bullpen on Saturday.
Both of their highest-leverage arms, Jacob Latz and Peyton Gray, were unavailable on Friday after high workloads the day before.
Gray should certainly be available, but Latz may or may not be after throwing 41 pitches on Thursday. Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said after Thursday’s game that Latz would be available at “some point” during the Astros series.
Rangers hitters will be tasked with facing Astros right-hander Peter Lambert, who has a 7-5 record and a 3.26 ERA.
Coming into play, the Rangers' 48-46 record is good for first place in the American League West. With a win on Saturday, Texas will stretch their record to three games above .500 and could have a division lead of 2.5 games
