The Texas Rangers are back in action against the Chicago White Sox as they go for a series win in their final game on the South Side.
After a tough 11-7 loss on Tuesday night, the Texas Rangers are back in action on Wednesday for the last time on the South Side as they look to secure a series win over the Chicago White Sox.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m., with all the action taking place live on Rangers Sports Network and on 105.3 The Fan on the radio side.
MacKenzie Gore will take the mound for the Rangers to make his 28th start in his debut season with Texas. Gore did not pitch against the White Sox when they visited Globe Life Field back in July.
Coming into play, Gore is 7-9 with a 4.26 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and 161 strikeouts in 145.2 innings.
In his last start against the Los Angeles Angels in Arlington, Gore was excellent, going six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and one walk while punching out seven in a game the Rangers would go on to win 2-1 in 10 innings.
Texas has won the last four starts Gore has made, but he has earned a no-decision in all but one of them.
Ultimately, it hasn’t exactly been the year Gore or the Rangers would have wanted after the big off-season trade, but more often than not, the left-hander has taken the ball and given Texas the chance to win games.
On the other side of the ball, the Rangers will be tasked with facing Chicago right-hander Sean Burke, who will make his 23rd start (26th appearance) of the season.
Coming into play, Burke is 7-6 with a 3.27 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP, and 158 strikeouts in 148 innings pitched.
Like Gore, Burke did not feature in the series between Texas and the White Sox earlier this season.
In his last start against the New York Mets, Burke allowed four earned runs on seven hits in six innings. He has given up four earned runs in each of his last two starts.
No Rangers hitter has faced Burke more than three times. Both Jake Burger and Wyatt Langford each have one hit against him in three at-bats.
Coming into play, Texas is just a half-game back of first place in the American League West and one game back of the AL’s final Wild Card spot.
With a win, the Rangers would jump back to .500 at 67-67. Following today’s game, Texas will have a day off on Thursday.
