Everyone loves a good afternoon matinee on Broadway, and the Texas Rangers will be front and center on Wednesday afternoon.
For the final time in 2026, the Rangers will take on the New York Yankees as they look to secure a series victory.
After Wednesday night’s dominant 6-1 win, the Rangers will look to secure back-to-back victories to close out their road trip.
MacKenzie Gore takes the mound for the Rangers and he's entering play with a 2-2 record and a 4.67 ERA on the season.
Gore will look to go deeper into the game after having short outings in his last couple of times out.
The Rangers, of course, will not have an off day in between the road trip and the start of the homestand, so any long start to give the bullpen a breather is certainly very welcome.
A couple of Yankees come in with good career numbers against Gore. Paul Goldschmidt is hitting .300 against the Rangers' lefty in ten at-bats, Aaron Judge is at a .429 clip with two home runs and six RBI in seven at-bats.
Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr has also done some left on left damage against Gore, hitting .333 with a home run in nine at-bats.
Following a strong night offensively, the Rangers will be facing right-hander Paul Blackburn, who takes the hill for the Yankees.
Corey Seager is the only Ranger who has faced Blackburn more than five times, and he has certainly made the most of those plate appearances.
In seven career at-bats against Blackburn, Seager is hitting .429 with two home runs and four RBI.
After a strong offensive night on Tuesday night, the Rangers are hoping that Seager can finally turn the corner and start to produce at the MVP level they know he can reach.
Something similar can be said for Evan Carter, who also went deep in Tuesday night’s game. If both Carter and Seager can start to get going, then there is no doubt the Rangers' offense will be where they want to be sooner rather than later.
At the conclusion of today’s game, the Rangers will hop on a flight back to DFW after a hard-fought road trip.
The Rangers will open a six-game homestand at Globe Life Field on Friday night. However, there is no doubt that before that plane ride, they would love to take one more win against the Yankees.
