The Texas Rangers are back in action at Globe Life Field as they take on the Los Angeles Angels in a Saturday night showdown.
After stealing a 2-1 victory on Friday night, the Texas Rangers are back in action on Saturday as they take on the Los Angeles Angels in game two of their three-game series at Globe Life Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., with parking lots opening at 3 p.m., followed by ballpark gates at 4 p.m.
The first 10,000 fans inside the Globe will receive a free 1996 Rangers Team Baseball Card Button-Down.
Before the game, the Rangers will honor the 1996 American League West-winning team in a special pregame ceremony on the field at 5:35 p.m. It was 30 years ago that the 1996 Rangers became the first team in franchise history to reach the postseason.
Before the ceremony, Kevin Elster and Ivan Rodriguez will sign autographs for the first 175 fans in line at the New Era Alumni Alley stand located on the Upper Concourse behind Section 223 beginning at 4:15 p.m.
Additionally, Ken Hill, the 1996 Rangers pitcher of the year, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Once the action on the field gets underway, Cody Bradford will make his fourth start of the season.
Entering play, Bradford is 0-1 with a 2.93 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and 10 strikeouts in 15.1 innings this season.
In his last start against the Athletics, Bradford went four innings, allowing eight hits and two runs while walking one and striking out four.
Just 11 days ago, on Aug. 11, Bradford went seven innings, allowing just three runs in a start against the Angels in Anaheim.
As for the bullpen, Texas’ All-Star closer Jacob Latz has pitched back-to-back days, so he may be unavailable should the Rangers need him on Saturday.
On the other side of the ball, the Rangers will face Angels right-hander and Dallas native Ryan Johnson. Coming into play, Johnson is 2-7 with a 6.41 ERA, a 1.54 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts in 60.1 innings.
Johnson opposed Bradford in the game on August 11th, allowing just one run in 4.1 innings with five strikeouts.
With a win, the Rangers would improve to .500 at 65-65 and stretch their winning streak to three games.
Coming into play, Texas sits just one game back of first place in the American League West and holds the AL’s final Wild Card spot.
