The Texas Rangers have the chance to claim a series victory in game two of their series with the San Diego Padres at 3:05 p.m. CST.
On Friday night, the struggling Texas Rangers offense exploded for a six-run first inning en route to a series-opening 9-7 victory over the San Diego Padres.
Saturday afternoon will mark a chance for Texas to pick up a much-needed series win after coming into the set with San Diego having lost five of their last six games. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. CST.
The Rangers will celebrate day two of Mexican Heritage weekend at Globe Life Field. Fans will have a special opportunity on the North Plaza near Texas Live as the team will host a post-game celebration from 5-7 p.m.
The festivities will feature performances by México en La Sangre, a photo zone by Martha Rincon, and Polaroid pictures provided by Shot by Thrive.
Adding to the festivities of the day, the Rangers will don their new red “Tejas” City Connect uniforms for the first time on a Saturday.
Former Rangers infielder Steve Buechele will sign autographs for the first 225 fans in line at the New Era Alumni Alley stand located on the Upper Concourse behind Section 223 beginning at 1:15 p.m. (no personalization or photos will be permitted).
Those not planning on heading out to Globe Life Field can watch all the action on Rangers Sports Network and on 105.3 The Fan on the radio side of things.
Nathan Eovaldi will take the mound for the Rangers, making his 15th start in his fourth season with Texas. Entering play on Saturday, Eovaldi is 6-7 with a 4.23 ERA in 87.1 innings this season.
In his last start against the Boston Red Sox, Eovaldi was solid, going seven innings, allowing just six hits and three runs, and earning the win in what would end up as a 6-4 Rangers victory on Sunday Night Baseball.
Rangers hitters will be tasked with facing Padres veteran right-hander Walker Buehler, who will make his 14th start of the season. Buehler enters play with a 4-3 record and a 4.14 ERA in his first season with San Diego.
Texas designated hitter Joc Pederson is a lifetime .273 hitter with one home run in 11 career at-bats against Buehler.
Entering play on Saturday, the Rangers sit just two games back of first place in the American League West despite their 36-39 record. Texas is just a game and a half back of the AL’s final Wild Card spot.
