The Texas Rangers will go for their second straight win in game two of their series against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.
After Tuesday night’s 5-0 win over the Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said he “asked for a really good start, and asked for the offense to give them a cushion, and both sides accomplished that; it was just a really good overall game."
On Wednesday night, the Rangers will look to follow up that “really good overall game” with another win in game two of their series against the Nationals.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with parking lots at Globe Life Field slated to open at 4 p.m., followed by gates at 5 p.m.
The first 10,000 people inside the stadium will receive a free All for Texas Football Jersey presented by QuikTrip.
Wednesday night will also mark another $1 Hot Dog night which will be available at select concession stands throughout the ballpark.
Anyone not planning on heading out to the Globe, can catch all the action on Rangers Sports Network and on 105.3 The Fan on the radio side of things.
When the action gets underway on the field, Kumar Rocker will toe the rubber for the Rangers, looking to build off the momentum that Cal Qunatrill provided on Tuesday when he fired seven shutout innings.
Rocker enters play with a 4-9 record, a 4.50 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, and 106 strikeouts in 116 innings throughout his first full season at the big league level.
In his last start against the Athletics, Rocker went five innings, allowing four hits and three runs while walking five and punching out three.
Rocker has yet to face Washington in his young big-league career, so Wednesday night will mark an unfamiliar matchup.
On the other side of the ball, the Rangers will be tasked with facing Nationals right-hander Cade Cavalli.
It’s been a solid season for Cavalli who comes into play with a 10-5 record, a 3.36 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and 151 strikeouts in 136.2 innings.
Like Rocker with the Nationals, Cavalli has yet to face the Rangers in his big league carrer so it will be an unfamiliar matchup for both sides.
The only Texas batter who has faced Cavalli is right-fielder Brandon Nimmo, who is 0-for-2 against him in his career.
With a right-hander on the mound, expect Schumaker to deploy his left-handed hitting lineup featuring the likes of Joc Pederson likely leading off in the DH spot and Nicky Lopez possibly playing somewhere in the infield.
