The red-hot Texas Rangers are back in action for game two of their series against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field.
On Monday night, the Texas Rangers took their momentum from a potentially season-changing weekend in Toronto and carried it across the border back into the States.
Texas took down the Cleveland Guardians 6-3 to extend their winning streak to five games without a lot of their regulars.
The Rangers will be back in action on Tuesday night, looking to keep up their hot run in game two of their series against the Guardians at Progressive Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 5:40 p.m, a little earlier than Monday night’s 6:07 p.m start time. After the first game of the series being an ESPN exclusive telecast, the action will be back on Rangers Sports Network on Tuesday night. On the radio side of things, 105.3 The Fan will once again have all the coverage.
After Monday night’s bullpen game, the Rangers will turn to one of the best ever as Jacob deGrom takes the mound to make his 17th start of the season.
Coming into play on Tuesday, deGrom is 6-5 with a 3.55 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 106 strikeouts in 88.2 innings this season.
Back on June 7th, deGrom turned in one of his better outings of the year against the Guardians, going six shutout innings and allowing just three hits while punching out six.
On the other side, the Rangers will face Cleveland right-hander Tanner Bibee, who enters play 2-8 with a 3.78 ERA on the season.
The Rangers faced Bibee at Globe Life Field back on June 6th and did not have an answer as the Guardians starter went eight shutout innings, allowing just three hits.
However, the Rangers certainly are now in much better offensive shape than they were then, so they will hope things are different in this one.
At the very least, even if the Rangers are unable to get to Bibee, they will look to make him work and get to the Guardians bullpen early, which they did successfully multiple times in Toronto during this weekend’s series sweep.
With Monday night’s win, the Rangers are now 43-42 on the season, good for first place in the American League West, although by just half a game.
In their last ten games, the Rangers now have a 7-3 record, tied for the best clip in the entire AL. Additionally, with a win, Texas would improve their road record on the season above .500 at 25-24.
