The Texas Rangers are back at Globe Life Field to open up their final homestand of the season against the Boston Red Sox.

Coming into play, Texas sits just one game back of first place in the American League West and 1.5 games behind in the race for the AL’s final Wild Card spot.
How well the Rangers play over these next nine home games will likely determine the outcome of their season, and it all begins on Tuesday night.
Texas welcomes the Boston Red Sox to town for the first of three games. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with ballpark parking lots opening at 4:30 p.m., followed by gates at 5 p.m.
Before the ballgame, the Rangers will honor first baseman Jake Burger in a pre-game ceremony as it was announced Monday that he was named the club’s 2026 Roberto Clemente Award nominee. Tuesday will mark Roberto Clemente Day across MLB.
Once the action on the field gets underway, we know that Boston will turn to left-hander Patrick Sandoval.
Entering play, Sandoval is 1-5 with a 4.58 ERA, a 1.76 WHIP, and 57 strikeouts in 55 innings this season.
Sandoval did not appear for the Red Sox until July 9, so he did not pitch when Texas visited Boston back in June. In his last start against the Los Angeles Angels, the veteran left-hander allowed four earned runs on ten hits in six innings pitched.
Rangers shortstop Corey Seager has faced Sandoval 19 times in his career, by far the most of anyone on the team. However, he his hitting just .158 against him. Burger and Brandon Nimmo have faced him seven and six times, respectively, but are also both hitting below .200.
At the time of this writing, the Texas starter has not been announced yet, but if the rotation stays in line, it would be Cody Bradford’s turn to start.
In seven starts this season, Bradford is 0-5 with a 4.72 ERA, a 1.57 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts in 34.1 innings. In his last start against the Seattle Mariners, Bradford allowed three runs on four innings with a pair of walks and a strikeout in four innings of work.
If Bradford earns a win in this game against Boston, it will mark his first since Sept. 18, 2024.
