The Texas Rangers are back in action for the second game -two of their series with the Detroit Tigers for a Fourth of July showdown.
Nothing goes better with the Fourth of July than baseball, and the Texas Rangers are back in action at Globe Life Field to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
Texas will take on the Detroit Tigers in game two of their three-game set, with first pitch scheduled for 3:05 p.m. CT.
On Thursday, the Rangers took down the Tigers 10-4 in the series opener. The two teams had an off-day on Friday due to a FIFA World Cup game taking place down the street at Dallas Stadium.
As for Saturday, the first 10,000 fans inside Globe Life Field will receive a Rangers America 250 jersey presented by Coca-Cola.
Former Rangers outfielder Rubén Sierra will be on hand to sign autographs for the first 225 fans in line at the New Era Alumni Alley stand located on the Upper Concourse behind Section 223 beginning at 1:15 p.m.
Once the action gets underway, Kumar Rocker will take the mound for the Rangers to make his 17th appearance (15th start) of the season.
Rocker enters play with a 2-6 record, a 3.83 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts in 80 innings pitched this season.
In his last start on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays, Rocker turned in one of his better outings of the season, throwing six shutout innings, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out five.
The tall right-hander's efforts on that day helped the Rangers secure a 3-2 victory to cap off a sweep of the Blue Jays and save a bullpen that had been heavily worked in the days prior.
But the similar won’t be true on Saturday, with the Rangers coming off a day off. They should have most of their bullpen weapons available to them.
Offensively, the Rangers hitters will see Tigers veteran right-hander Jack Flaherty, who is set to make his 17th start of the season.
Things have not gone Flaherty’s way in 2026 as he enters play at just 1-8 with a 4.97 ERA in 70.2 innings this season.
Despite the overall lack of production, Flaherty has been striking hitters out at an elite level, compiling 87 strikeouts in those 70.2 innings.
Coming into play on Saturday, the Rangers hold sole possession of first place in the American League West Division. With a win, Texas would improve to three games above .500 at 46-43 and would win their eighth game out of their last 11.
