The Texas Rangers are back at Globe Life Field to kick off a nine-game homestand with a showdown against the Detroit Tigers.
After having their winning streak snapped on Wednesday afternoon, the Texas Rangers will look to begin a new one as they return to Globe Life Field on Thursday night.
Texas will take on the Detroit Tigers to open a nine-game home stand that will take the team into the All-Star break.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. but those heading out to Globe Life Field will want to do so far before then, as the first 10,000 fans will receive a Corey Seager Hitting Bobblehead Presented by Globe Life.
Thursday night will also mark Bingo Night at the ballpark from 5:30-7:00. Bingo is free to play with a game ticket and lots of great prizes to win like autographed baseballs and jerseys, tickets, and promo items!
Dallas Stars fans will also be out in full force at the ballpark as the Rangers celebrate Stars Night. Fans with a special theme night ticket will receive a Stars-Rangers co-branded jersey. Stars mascot Victor E. Green will also throw out the first pitch.
Anyone not planning on heading out to the ballpark can catch all the action on Rangers Sports Network and on 105.3 The Fan.
As for the action on the field, the Rangers will turn to Nathan Eovaldi, who looks to continue the momentum from the seven scoreless innings he threw in his last start against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Entering play on Thursday, Eovaldi is 8-7 with a 3.95 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and 101 strikeouts in 100.1 innings pitched.
On the other side, the Rangers lineup will see a familiar face as longtime Houston Astros starter Framber Valdez will toe the rubber for the Tigers.
Valdez is in his first season with Detroit after spending the last eight seasons with the Astros. Entering play on Thursday, Valdez is 4-5 with a 4.05 ERA. The Rangers did not face Valdez during their series in Detroit earlier this season.
Right fielder Brandon Nimmo will once again not be in the lineup for the Rangers as he continues to work his way back from the shoulder injury he suffered in Toronto over the weekend.
Coming into play today, the Rangers are tied with the Seattle Mariners for first place in the American League West.
Following Thursday’s game, the Rangers will have an off-day on Friday as there will be a World Cup match at Dallas Staduim across the street.
