The Texas Rangers open a massive four-game series with the division rival Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field on Friday night.
Baseball in July doesn’t get much bigger than what is taking place at Globe Life Field on Friday night.
The Texas Rangers come into play holding just a half-game lead over the Seattle Mariners in the American League West as the two open a series against each other that could see the division lead flip four times.
First pitch for Friday night’s game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with parking lots at the Globe opening at 4 p.m., followed by gates at 5 p.m.
It will be somewhat of a nostalgic night for the first 10,000 fans 18 and older who enter the ballpark will receive a Choctaw Staduim replica radio.
Choctaw Staduim is, of course, the new name for what was formerly Globe Life Park and before that the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, where Texas played their home games from 1994-2019.
Anyone not planning on heading out to the ballpark tonight can catch all the action on CW33 as part of their package of select Friday night Rangers broadcasts. On the radio side of things, the action will remain on 105.3 The Fan.
Once again, the Rangers will don their red Tejas City Connect uniforms as they do during Friday night home games.
Taking the mound in those red uniforms for the Rangers will be MacKenzie Gore, who comes into play at 6-8 with a 4.80 ERA, a .128 WHIP, and 122 strikeouts in 110.2 innings.
It hasn’t quite been the season Gore or the Rangers envisioned when landing him in a trade during the off-season. Still, he certinally has a big opportunity ahead of him taking the mound in the biggest game of the Texas season to date.
Additionally, the Rangers bullpen should be in good shape given Thursday’s off-day. However, you never want to show too much of your bullpen in a four-game series.
On the offensive side of things, Rangers hitters will face Seattle’s young right-hander Bryce Miller.
Coming into play on Friday, Miller is 4-4 with a 2.27 ERA, a 0.88 WHIP, and 71 strikeouts in 63.1 innings.
Texas has not faced Miller this season but has had some success against him in years past, with multiple Rangers hitters posting great career numbers against him.
With a win on Friday, the Rangers would jump back over .500 at 52-51 and would extend their AL West lead over the Mariners to 1.5 games.
