The Texas Rangers are back in action at Globe Life Field as they open a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.
Following a strong start to their final homestand, the Texas Rangers welcome the Toronto Blue Jays to town for the first game of a three-game set.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with parking lots slated to open at 4 p.m., followed by ballpark gates at 5 p.m.
If you’re planning on heading out to the Globe, you’ll want to do so early as the first 10,000 fans will receive an All For Texas Basketball Jersey.
It’ll also be a City Connect Friday at the ballpark as the Rangers will be wearing their Red Tejas City Connect uniforms as they do during every Friday night home game.
Once the action on the field gets underway, Kumar Rocker will take the mound for Texas to make his 26th start (29th appearance) of the season.
Rocker comes into play with a 5-11 record, a 4.54 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and 132 strikeouts in 138.2 innings, by far the most he has thrown in professional baseball.
It’s been six days since Rocker last pitched as he hasn’t taken the mound since Sunday, where he went four innings, allowing just two hits and one run against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Back in June when Texas visited the Jays in Toronto, Rocker had one of his best outings of the season, throwing six shutout innings, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out five.
On the other side of the ball, Rangers hitters will have to deal with their second AL Cy Young candidate in as many days as Dylan Cease will make his 29th start of the year for Toronto.
Cease comes into play with an 11-5 record, a 2.38 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and 236 strikeouts in 166.1 innings.
Despite a season of dominance, the Rangers actually did get to Cease when he pitched against them in Toronto earlier this year.
Texas struck with four runs against Cease as he pitched just 4.2 innings in a game the Rangers would go on to win 7-4.
Coming into play, the Rangers sit one game below .500 at 76-77. A win would once again pull them back to .500.
Texas sits just one game back of first place in the American League West and two games out of the AL’s final Wild Card spot.
