On Friday night, the Texas Rangers will open a three-game series against the MLB-best Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field.
The Texas Rangers only travel to Wisconsin to take on the Milwaukee Brewers every other year, but on Friday night, the two teams will open a three-game set at American Family Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. Rangers Sports Network will have the television broadcast, as usual, but the radio side of things will be a little different.
KRLD 1080 will feature the radio broadcast of Friday night’s game, as the Rangers' usual station, 105.3 The Fan, will be broadcasting the Dallas Cowboys' final preseason game.
When the action on the field gets underway, Cody Bradford will take the mound for Texas to make his fifth start of the season.
Coming into play, Bradford is 0-2 with a 3.05 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 20.2 innings.
In his last start against the Los Angeles Angels on August 22, Bradford went 5.1 innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out three and walking none. The Rangers would go on to lose 3-0.
Brewers catcher Gary Sanchez is the only Milwaukee hitter to have ever faced Bradford in his career. The two have squared off just one time.
On the other side of the ball, Rangers hitters will be tasked with solving Brewers right-hander Logan Henderson.
In 13 starts this season, Henderson is 8-2 with a 2.60 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP, and 79 strikeouts in 69.1 innings.
Back on Aug. 22 in his last start, Henderson went six innings and allowed just one run against the Atlanta Braves.
Henderson has made exactly 20 starts in his big league career and has posted a very strong 2.38 ERA.
Friday night will mark the first time Henderson has faced the Rangers in his Major League career. No Texas hitter has faced him in their big league careers. The young right-hander is a native of Houston and pitched at McLennan Community College.
The Brewers enter play on Friday with baseball’s best record at 83-51. They hold a seven-game lead in the National League Central as they push in on clinching a playoff spot.
Meanwhile, the Rangers come into play with a 66-68 record on the year, yet remain just one game back of first place in the American League West.
As for the Wild Card race, Texas finds itself two games out as we sit with just 28 games remaining in the regular season.
