The Texas Rangers will be leaving Arizona this weekend as yet another Spring Training in Surprise, Arizona winds down.
When the Rangers board the plane to head back to the Metroplex, they will hope to bring their run of successful offense with them.
On Wednesday night, the Rangers' red-hot Spring Training continued as the team played an exhibition contest against their Surprise, Arizona foe, the Kansas City Royals.
Texas scored early and often in this one, putting up 12 runs on 13 hits and taking down the Royals 12-3.
With the win, the Rangers' Cactus League record improves to 15-10, still good for third place in the league standings.
The scoring started early on Wednesday night as Jake Burger ripped an RBI double in the top of the first.
In the second inning, the Rangers struck for a pair of runs as it was Kyle Higashioka’s turn to contribute an RBI double. The Texas backstop would eventually come around to score on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.
With the score at 3-1, it was a pair of home runs for the Rangers in the fourth inning that helped break the game open. Josh Jung hit his first home run since returning to the lineup after a hamstring injury, followed by a three-run blast by Wyatt Langford, extending the Texas lead to 7-1.
Jung would come through with another RBI hit in the fifth before Andrew McCutchen ripped a three-run home run in the seventh for his first long ball of the Spring.
On the mound, it was Kumar Rocker who got the ball and put forth yet another solid outing as he continues to compete for the fifth and final starter spot.
Rocker went four innings, allowing just three hits and one run while walking two and striking out six.
Chris Martin would follow Rocker, allowing a hit and a run while also picking up two strikeouts in an inning of work.
Cole Winn also pitched in the game, going 1 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and a run while also striking out a pair.
New addition to the bullpen, Jalen Beeks, also pitched in the game, throwing a clean inning in the 8th.
The Rangers will be back in action on Thursday night as they travel to Phoenix to take on the Milwaukee Brewers. Following Thursday night's game, just five more Spring Training contests remain for Texas before Opening Day next Thursday.
