It may only be Spring Training, but the Texas Rangers are putting together a very good stretch of baseball.
On Friday afternoon, the Rangers traveled to Scottsdale to take on the Colorado Rockies, and they were able to continue their winning ways.
Texas took down the Rockies 9-4, marking the team's fourth consecutive win and improving its Cactus League record to 12-8.
Jacob Latz took the mound for the Rangers, throwing four innings, allowing three hits and two runs with three walks and six strikeouts.
Jose Corinell pitched behind Latz, throwing a clean inning while allowing a walk. Chris Martin followed, finishing with the exact same line.
After Martin, it was Cole Winn and Carter Baumler, each having strong outings to continue their strong springs.
Offensively, it was once again a day full of regulars for the Rangers as we continue to inch closer to Opening Day.
Brandon Nimmo led off and played left and had a big three-RBI double in the fifth inning. Wyatt Langford played center field, drawing a walk and scoring a run.
Corey Seager played shortstop, hit third, and turned in a solid day, drawing a walk and scoring a run.
Jake Burger continued his strong Spring Training, collecting two hits while hitting fourth and playing first base.
Andrew McCutchen hit fifth and served as the DH as he continued his run of exceptional play, picking up yet another RBI hit while drawing two walks.
Danny Jansen got the start behind the plate, drawing a walk and scoring a run. Evan Carter played left field and drew two walks.
Josh Smith had a very strong day while playing third base. Smith had two hits and three RBI. Sam Haggerty played second base, drawing two walks.
The Rangers will be back in action Saturday afternoon in split-squad action, with half of the team staying in Surprise to take on the San Diego Padres and the other half traveling to Goodyear to take on the Cincinnati Reds.
At the conclusion of play on Friday, the Rangers have just seven Spring Training games remaining in Arizona.
Following those seven games, the Rangers will play a two-game exhibition series against the Kansas City Royals at Globe Life Field before Opening Day.
Texas will begin the 2026 season on the road as they take on the Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles before returning for their home opener against the Reds on March 3rd.
