The Texas Rangers will put this hot run to the test on Tuesday night against the Kansas City Royals.
The Texas Rangers will open their six-game road trip as hot as they’ve been in the entire 2026 season.
Texas has won seven of its last nine games and has won three straight series for the first time in the young campaign.
In doing so, the Rangers enter play on Tuesday just two games back of first place in the American League West Division and in sole possession of the American League’s final wild card spot.
Texas will put this hot run to the test on Tuesday night as they open a three-game series with the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Staduim.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM CST. Fans can catch all the action on Rangers Sports Network and on 105.3 The Fan on the radio side of things.
Nathan Eovaldi will take the mound for the Rangers, entering play with a 5-6 record and a 4.10 ERA on the season.
Eovaldi did not pitch in the previous series that Texas took on Kansas City back in Arlington. In his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals exactly one week ago, Eovaldi allowed 11 hits and four earned runs in six innings.
There’s a chance that Eovaldi doesn’t have to face Bobby Witt Jr., who left the Royals game on Sunday with knee soreness.
At the time of this writing, there hasn’t been an update on Witt’s condition, but Kansas City doesn't expect the injury to be too serious.
Offensively, the Rangers will face Royals right-hander Stephen Kolek, who enters play at 3-1 with a 3.32 ERA on the season.
Texas just faced Kolek on May 29th at Globe Life Field, and they got to him pretty good, scratching across four runs on six hits in the five innings that he pitched. Overall, in the three-game series against Kansas City, the Rangers scored 22 runs.
Kansas City enters play still struggling overall, sitting at the bottom of the American League Central with a 27-39 record this season.
However, since being swept by the Rangers in Arlington, the Royals have won back-to-back series.
Still, the series presents an opportunity for the Rangers to take on a last-place team they have had recent success against.
With a win on Tuesday night, the Rangers will see their record even at 33-33. It would also mark the first time Texas has had a .500 record since the month of April.
